Excursion to the Dortmund Christmas market December 17th, 2019
On December 17th, 2019, we inquired about the Dortmund Christmas market together with refugees and immigrants. 26 people and 2 supervisors took part. Together we saw the largest Christmas tree in the world. Numerous food stalls can be found along the Christmas market that stretches around Dortmund's Hansaplatz, the food stalls offer a variety of typical Christmas treats and delicacies. Together with the colorful troops we took a short meal break at the candied apple stand and for many it was the first time to taste the delicious sugar apples. The little children also enjoyed themselves on the Christmas carousel. Finally, we drank mulled wine and hot chocolate together and talked about similarities and differences in the celebration of Christmas in Germany and the home countries. The excursion served for integration. The aim was to convey the importance of the festive season in Germany to the migrants and to give them something of the German culture. The trips to Dortmund exceeded their expectations as the participants were very happy with the colorful Christmas magic! And the diversity along the Reisige Baum. With this you will better understand the history of the region, the wide range of leisure activities and social and cultural influences of the people. The goal was thus achieved
